Eulogy – the last Male Northern Rhino

22. March 2018

This hits my heart with sadness

But also with some reassurance as this species have decided to leave Earth for good. These gentle giants is a great loss to humanity and the rest of the world. We never really understood their nature; what their very specific qualities brought to us on this Earth. Their spirit held a very special lesson for us, it still does, though that lesson is somewhat altered or covered over at this stage. Their original message was lost 10-20 years ago.

Last male Northern Rhino

The Hunting

The species collected sadness of their brutal hunting and treatment from the human race, not just to them alone as a species, but for all the harm that we humans have subjected on our natural surroundings and the greater animal community. The way we treat the Rhino exemplified our utterly greedy and cruel ways. We methodologically hunt them not just slaying them but torturing them cruelly too. It was just too much for them in the end and so they collectively decided to leave. I wrote about their decision to do so in 2015 and I will post a link at the end of this message to this blog post because it is still relevant and their message is still strong.

They still want us to hear them.

Humanity’s uncontrollable desires

So this news hits with a heavy heart and it still triggers sadness, grief, and disbelief at humanity’s length of brutality and uncontrollable desires. But I also stand tall and strong in full support of this species discussion to leave. I will not argue with it- I will give them the last respect they deserve. In all honesty, they deserved a lot more but this last respect, isn’t it the least we can do for them; to respect their decision full on?

For the same reason, I can also not support the artificial gene-work that is being done to try and keep extinction of their kind from happening. The last to female Nothern White Rhinos are female; mother and daughter and scientists and conservationists are trying to come up with a way to have those to females reproduce and thereby continue the species. They are begging us not to and it only seems like a last cruel and utterly selfish attempt to satisfy ourselves again; almost a last brutal rape of this species own decision.

When to let go

Why do we not feel and see that would be the total negation of any authority they have left. And strangely that is becoming a part of their message to humanity now;

to let go, to not fear the dying off of something, to respect even what we do not understand.

It is a strong last message! I feel it in my bones as an erect unshakable steel decision and an asking of respect for this last authority. It is shooting down the vertical axis of what I call my own being as firm and solid as their appearance is in their tank-body on this Earth. I pray that they will be allowed to keep their last bit of dignity so they can fully detach and by that cleanly start a new cycle exactly how, when and where they choose. They deserve as much.

Your heart is needed

I would urge you to consider to sit down and take this species into your heart, not to mold or change their decision but to honor and thank them for their wisdom, their kind generosity and unbelievable light nature which they have found an incredibly fun way to incorporate into a tank of a body. A way of being that was part of their original message.

Animal Conversations

Lily
I live together with my two little rabbit friends in Denmark, in the region of Northern Zealand. I have a small house surrounded by small and great trees, wildlife, and organic farming. I grow many of my own vegetables throughout summer and fall, and in the wintertime, I am nestled down in woolen blankets in front of the woodstove. And, that by the way is what ‘Hygge’ is all about.
